How it works...
Step One: Creating your signature flavour profile...
We will set-up a call to discuss and go over your options. You are welcome to visit our distillery, where we stock over 100 interesting and exotic botanicals, with unlimited flavour combinations. After learning your requirements/aspirations, we will distil a sample gin for you to approve.
Step Two: Choosing your bottle and design...
We can advise on a range of bottles, and the design of the label is usually up to you. We will supply a template for all the legal info needed on the bottle, and we will supply duty stamps.
Step Three – Ordering your first batch
Our copper pot still ‘Valerie’ makes small batches of 50 litres – meaning your initial commitment is a low minimum order of just 75 bottles. Our turnaround is quick – we can make and deliver your finished gin within 5 working days. We also offer flexible payment options.
Step Four – Once your licenses are in place, launch your brand!
Build loyalty around your new brand and use it to diversify your business.
How much does it cost?
The initial consultancy phase to create a bespoke recipe including your first trial sample is £200+vat.
For a single small batch the net cost per bottle of your finished gin usually comes in around £25+vat per full size 70cl bottle, depending on the ingredients we use and the style of bottle you choose. The price can be substantially discounted for larger orders.
What licenses do I need?
If the gin is for corporate gifting only, you will not require a license, but you must not sell the gin under any circumstances.
If you wish to sell your gin, firstly you will need a premises license, even if you only want to sell it direct to consumer online. We need to see a copy of this before supplying you.
You will need an AWRS wholesalers license if you would like to sell the gin to other businesses. We are very strict on this and will require you sign a legal agreement stating you will not wholesale the gin unless you can given us proof you have an AWRS number which we can check. We not not offer advisory services relating to these licenses and you must do your own research and applications.
Who pays the alcohol duty? We pay the alcohol duty as part of our W1 & W5 monthly returns to HMRC, copies of which can be provided upon request. We only supply bespoke gins on a duty paid basis.
Case studies
The Little Tap, Tarporley – 'The Little Gin – Silver linings edition'
The Little Tap approached us during lockdown of 2020 and we created a signature house gin for them, which has sold incredibly well, and been an excellent extra source of revenue.
"We approached Nick to distil our gin in the summer of 2020, He guided us through the slick process so well and helped us to create our bespoke blend of botanicals which resulted in a unique gin that captured Little Tap. Great service and the bonus was that we could really get involved in the process, making the product our own” Myles, owner, Little Tap Tarporley."
Dexter & Jones, Knutsford
We were approached by Dexter & Jones in Autumn 2020 to create two brand-new flavoured gins for their retail and bar space
"When we decided to add some flavoured gins to our range there was only ever one person we wanted to create them with. One person who shared the same ethos towards the creative process and respect for the art... Nick and the guys at Three Wrens made the entire process aspirational and make every step towards your dream attainable. No one does it better and we look forward to many a years of collaborating with them."
Adam & Katy, owners, Dexter & Jones
Iscoyd Park, Whitchurch
Iscoyd park country estate wanted to create their own gin using botanicals from the estate gardens. We picked lemon verbena and rose from their estate, and distilled them with classic gin botanicals. We then incorporated their logo into our bottle design to create a truly unique and very special edition.
