Hot Mulled Apple Crumble Gin
Serves: 2
Ingredients
- 100ml Three Wrens Apple Crumble Gin
- 400ml cloudy apple juice
- 1 tbsp runny honey (or to taste)
- 1 small cinnamon stick
- 3–4 whole cloves
- 1 small star anise
- 1 thin slice of fresh ginger (optional, for warmth)
- Strip of orange peel (use a peeler to avoid pith)
- Slice of apple, to garnish
- Optional: a pinch of nutmeg or a splash of vanilla extract
Step-by-Step
- Warm the juice
Pour the cloudy apple juice into a small saucepan. Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, star anise, ginger (if using), and orange peel.
- Simmer gently
Heat gently over a low to medium heat. Avoid boiling – you want it to gently mull. Let it simmer for around 10 minutes, allowing the spices to infuse.
- Sweeten and flavour
Stir in the honey, and add a splash of vanilla extract or a tiny pinch of nutmeg if you’d like extra dessert-like notes. Taste and adjust the sweetness to your liking.
- Add the gin
Remove the pan from the heat. Pour in the Three Wrens Apple Crumble Gin, giving it a gentle stir. You don’t want to boil the gin – just warm it through.
- Serve
Strain into heatproof glasses or mugs to remove the spices. Garnish each with a fresh apple slice, a little orange zest, or even a cinnamon stick for extra flair.
- Sip and enjoy
Serve hot, and enjoy a warming hug in a mug – boozy, fruity, and full of comforting crumble flavours.
